Wetmore, Jeffrey Michael, age 45, of Oklahoma City, passed away June 7, 2021. He was born in Oklahoma City on October 25, 1975. Jeff graduated from Putnam City West High School in 1994 and entered college with the intention of majoring in theater, but instead received his Masters of Arts in Experimental Psychology in 2003 from the University of Central Oklahoma. He was married to his best friend Jennifer Lynn Beale on May 21, 2005, and, while they had no human children, they have had many beloved pets over the years.
For the past 20 years, Jeff’s career focused on medical research and he worked in many departments at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center, including the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences, the Department of Pediatrics’ Genetics Lab, the College of Pharmacy, and the Stephenson Cancer Center.
Like his father, he loved numbers and statistics. Like his mother, he was an avid reader. The more scientific the subject, the better...he typically selected books based on the bibliographies of books he had enjoyed reading. He loved cooking and entertaining, and he and Jennifer loved traveling together, visiting many states and other countries over the years.
He loved his family and is survived by his wife, Jennifer; his father, Ray Wetmore; brother, Kevin (Kay) Wetmore; niece, Madalyn; nephews, Andrew, Eli and Jackson; father-in-law, Richard “Dick” Beale (Leah); mother-in-law, Nancy Beale; brothers-in-law, Brian (Melissa) Beale and Nick Beale; niece, Katie Beth and nephew Brayson; as well as several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
He is preceded in death by his beloved mother, Arlene Wetmore, his uncle John Snuggs, aunt Alice Gittins, and grandparents Christine and Clarence Wetmore and Howard and Mary Snuggs.
His Celebration of Life will be held at 10:30 am June 19 at Hahn-Cook/Street & Draper 6600 Broadway Extension, Oklahoma City, OK 73116. Jeffrey’s Celebration of Life will be live-streamed for those who cannot attend.
In lieu of flowers, the family recommends honoring his memory by donating to your favorite cancer research program, pet rescue, or NPR.
Jeff’s most frequent response or go to saying was “WORD”. So as Jeffrey would say to all of us “WORD”.
