

He worked, as a young boy, in Estelle’s Barber Shop, shining shoes and throwing papers for The Daily Oklahoman. He loved driving through the neighborhood and pointing out “his customers and school friends houses”. At 16 he went to work at Fred Jones Lincoln and Mercury as a Courtesy Driver beginning his never ending love for The Ford Automobile! His racing career included driving a Ford Mustang Prostock for The Polaris Drag Team.
He graduated from Central High School and was active in the class of ‘56 alumni. They are forever friends.
Jerry was predeceased by his parents, brother, James Larry Baker and precious daughter, Dee Ann Baker Halvorson (his broken heart is finally healed as they are together once again). Jerry is survived by his wife Janice for 61 years, of the home, daughter, Denice Erway, her husband Greg from Lawton. Their children, Ethan wife Jaymee, Colson wife Natalie of Tulsa, daughter Emma of Tulsa. Dee Ann’s children Lauren husband Colby Daniels, great grandson Carter Daniels. Austin Halvorson wife Catherine of Austin, TX. Grandson Calyn Halvorson, Guthrie. Brother in law Jim Robinson and family.
Jerry was a greeter at his home church, Crossings Community Church from the time it opened until his health and Parkinson Disease put him in a wheel chair. Excell Hospice, with their loving caregivers and private help by Shirley and Marie made life bearable.
