Jerry Paul Conyer, 77, of Oklahoma City, entered this world on January 28, 1943, in Sulphur, Oklahoma. After nearly eight decades of living life at full speed, he died peacefully on May 30, 2020, with his family at his side.
Jerry graduated from Lindsey High School in Lindsey, Oklahoma. He was a mechanic, worked in the vending business, managed a family entertainment center and started his own successful auto repair business. An avid car and sports enthusiast, Jerry pushed himself to excel in competitive bodybuilding, enduro motorcycle racing and karate, in which he earned a brown belt. With Jerry, even downtime was a thrill, as he skimmed across Lake Eufaula in his jet boat, rode dirt bikes and hunted with his buddies and, in later years, took his grandson for rides in the 1934 street rod he restored.
Behind the daring exterior was another Jerry Conyer. He was outgoing, personable, generous and made sure his family and friends were well taken care of. His wife, Marilyn, his family and his faith in God were the most important things in his life and brought him great comfort as he approached the end of his time on earth.
Jerry is survived by his wife of 45 years, Marilyn and their daughter Christina Conyer of Oklahoma City; son Charles Shane (Kelly) Conyer and daughter Adena Finch, both of Oklahoma City, and their mother, Mahona Witter of Mustang, Oklahoma; grandchildren Cameron (Sue) Conyer, Brennan Conyer, Dylan (Karla) Finch, Cooper Finch, Addison Finch and Aven Conyer; three great grandchildren; sister Wynema (Rudy) Parker of Eastland, Texas; brother Gary Michael (Beth) Conyer of Titusville, Florida; three great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his mother and father, Dorothy Basom and Charles Conyer, and his stepfather, Lyle Basom.
Viewing will be Wednesday, from 4 pm to 8 pm and the family will be receiving friends from 5 pm to 7 pm. A graveside service will be at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens on Thursday June 4 at 10:00 am.
