Jo Ann Perkins Dungan

JoAnn (Guinn) Perkins-Dungan, 93, long-time resident of Midwest City, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully into the presence of her Savior on August 27, 2026. JoAnn was born in Meeker, Oklahoma, on February 8, 1933, to Samuel Burlin "Sam" Guinn, Jr. and Minnie Fay (Fowler) Guinn. The youngest of seven children, she grew up in Lincoln County, attending grade school at Johnson and Pleasant Hill before graduating from Meeker High School. She was a member of the First Christian Church in Meeker during her early years. Following high school, she began her working life at Sylvania Electric and O.G. Harp's in Shawnee. On March 8, 1958, JoAnn married R. Wayne Perkins in Shawnee. Together, they made their home in Midwest City and built dedicated careers at Tinker Air Force Base. Wayne preceded her in death on December 19, 1992.

JoAnn’s career at Tinker Air Force Base spanned 36 remarkable years of civil service from November 1961 until her retirement on November 1, 1997. She continuously pursued excellence, taking courses at the University of Oklahoma and completing graduate-level career development classes through the Air Force Institute of Technology at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton, Ohio. Starting as a keypunch operator in the Directorate of Material Management, she advanced through positions in data communications, technical order editing, Foreign Military Sales working with Saudi Arabia, and ultimately served her final 12 years as an Airborne Communications Specialist on the EC-135 with the World Wide Airborne Command Post. In retirement, JoAnn poured her energy into serving her community. She generously volunteered her time in the gift shops and surgery waiting rooms at St. Anthony Hospital, Midwest City Regional Hospital, and the Oklahoma Tourism Department Welcome Center. She was an energetic participant in community and civic organizations, including Eastern Star, the Garden Club, NARFE (National Association of Active and Retired Federal Employees), Book Review, and served as treasurer for a local investment club.

Visitation will be held at Bill Eisenhour Funeral Home, 8805 NE 23rd Street, Oklahoma City, OK 73141, US, on September 10, 2026, from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm.

A Funeral Service will take place at Meadowood Baptist Church, 2816 N Woodcrest Dr, Midwest City, OK 73110, US, on September 11, 2026, at 11:00 am.

Burial will follow at Arlington Memorial Gardens, 3400 North Midwest Blvd, Oklahoma City, OK 731419699, US, on September 11, 2026.
