My Dear Aunt Joan, what memories I have of you. So many summers at your house. You made the best chocolate pie ever. Thank you for your loving care. Your niece Priscilla Ann

In deepest sympathy and in spirit I am there. I've known Joan since meeting Katy in the 7th grade and will always have memories of the passion we shared for gardening. Joan inspired me to be the best gardener I could be which to this day I give thanks to her for how far I have come in gardening always thinking of her. She will be dearly missed for her kindness and being like another mom I couldn't wait to hug. Rest in peace Joan and we'll all look forward to the gardens you are creating in the Heavens. In prayer and love, Manuel Cruz III

She was a wonderful person that everyone on 30th street loved very much. My family lived next door to her until I was in the 4th grade. Our parents were great friends and had so much fun together as well as us kids did. It was a great place to grow up and she was instrumental in making it that way for all of the kids on the block. She was so full of energy and so talented. She could make anything and loved doing it. She was the best neighbor and friend anyone could hope to ever have. She was a great friend to my mother after my father passed which I appreciated so much. She was such a hard worker and a great influence to everyone around her. I can remember as a child looking at some of the wedding dresses that she made and she would let me come over and watch the fittings .... They were gorgeous and a work of art . She was so talented. I would have loved to come to the funeral but I will be in Houston.texas and will not be able to make it. I would have loved to have seen her before she passed away.

What a spectacular lady, she will be greatly missed. I remember with great fondness many occasions spending the night with Katy and getting to sample some of Joan's homemade bread and of course the afore mentioned pigs in a blankets. Joan put up with Katy and my shenanigans during our formative years (and beyond) and for that I will always be grateful.

Joan - I remember the dress you made for me to wear in my Aunt Sandy and Uncle Danny's wedding when I was 7 years old. It was beautiful and made me feel very special. It was my blessing when I got to be friends with your dear and amazing daughter Katy in high school, and now she is one of my most precious friends for life. Thank you for all you have given me.

Jo--You're doing it all better now; only now you have no physical restrictions. Your creativity and beauty and love and fun and cleverness have total free expression. Thanks for more than you ever realized you gave to me. Your forever sister, Rie

Joan became my friend when we were volunteer "parents" at Madison Elementary. I came to respect and depend on her. She taught me as well as helped me. I will never forget her energy, or her smile.
