

JoAnn Marie Gentry, age 91 passed away on Tuesday, November 26, 2024. JoAnn Marie Gentry was born on January 30, 1933 in Boise, Idaho to Albert Arthur Burby and Mary Alice Peters. She graduated high school in Tule Lake, California- where she was highly involved in various sports.
JoAnn proudly served in the US Air Force at the James Connelly Air Force Base in Waco, Texas- where she met her husband, Ray Gentry. Prior to her marriage to him, she lived in Idaho, California, and Texas but they lived together in Evansville, Indiana, Oklahoma City, Newalla, and Moore, Oklahoma.
JoAnn’s days were filled with her working her yard, going for walks, camping and travelling around the country in their RV, and watching the hummingbirds. She also spent her time as a member of the Eastern Star and Daughters of the Nile in both Evansville and Oklahoma City and was a member of the St. Andrews Community Global Methodist Church. She was an avid lover of all shades of the color blue and had a soft spot for country music and anything from the 1950s. She loved visiting her friends, spending time with her grandchildren, but her favorite times were during holidays and birthday parties because she loved to be surrounded by her family. JoAnn was a dancer, a singer, and the perfect example of how to live and enjoy your life to the fullest- there was never a dull moment with her.
She is predeceased by her husband, Ray Gentry, and her parents. She is survived by her son George Gentry (wife Margaret), her daughter Lavonne Scott (husband Randy), her five grandchildren, and her four great-grandchildren.
Joann lived at Featherstone Assisted Living the last 7 years and the family thanks the employees and other residents for the care and love they gave to her daily.
A visitation for JoAnn will be held Wednesday, December 4, 2024 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Hahn-Cook/Street & Draper, 6600 Broadway Extension, Oklahoma City, OK 731161298. A graveside service will occur Thursday, December 5, 2024 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at External Service Location, 6001 NW Grand Blvd, Oklahoma City, OK 73118.
