JoAnn "Jodi" McQueen

Jodi McQueen passed away on July 23, 2013 in Edmond, Oklahoma, surrounded by the love of her family and her God. Jodi was born to Frank and Edna (Petersen) Hetzke on January 28, 1945 in Oklahoma City. She grew up and attended high school in Wichita, Kansas. She graduated in 1967 from Kansas University with a degree in Interior Design. Jodi began her modeling career in Phoenix and Denver before moving to New York City in 1970. She was personally recruited by the legendary Eileen Ford and her work in television for many advertisers as a “Ford Model” was extensive and extraordinary. Jodi starred in the feature film, The Love Machine, for Columbia Pictures in 1971 then returned to New York to continue her modeling work with the Wilhelmina Agency. She married the love of her life, Angus McQueen, on March 6, 1971, then continued to expand her passion for creativity. She co-wrote the lyrics for an album of music with her friend, Bobby Gosh, for PolyGram Records. In 1973, Jodi moved with her family to Oklahoma City and worked closely with her husband to grow and develop their advertising agency into what became Ackerman McQueen. In 1988, she formed her own company, Jodiworks, where she created a large collection of music and fine art through the rest of her years. She lived a joyful and gentle life filled with love for everyone. Jodi leaves her husband, Angus, of Edmond; their daughter, Skye Brewer and her husband, William, of Dallas, Texas; their daughter, Dr. Lauren Zanotti and her husband, Giorgio, of Chapel Hill, North Carolina; their son, Revan, of Edmond; her mother, Edna Hetzke, of Wichita, Kansas; her sister, Jean Katzenmeier and her husband, David, of Wichita, Kansas; along with grandchildren, Marie, Whitman and McKenna, of Dallas, Texas; step-grandchildren, William, Winston and Madelyn, of Dallas, Texas, and grandson, Luca, of Chapel Hill, North Carolina. A Memorial Service will celebrate her life on Tuesday, August 13, 2013, at the First Unitarian Church of Oklahoma City, 600 NW 13th Street at 10:00am. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions be made to the American Cancer Society, 6525 N Meridian Avenue, Oklahoma City, OK 73116 in memory of courageous Jodi.

In Memory of my cousin,
When I saw Jodi she and Angus would come out to southern Ca and visit with Jack , Ann and Susan. I remember long time ago she told me about her , being an actress.
Jodi and I walked out side my back yard, We had a great time walking and talking and laughing. She;ll be missed, I;ll have great memory;s , of us laughing , and being just the two of us.

I knew Jody in Denver when we were both young women, at the very beginning of our lives. Mostly I remember how much fun she was, and the laughter we shared. Just today I was saddened to receive the news of her passing. She was so full of life and light, my heart goes out to her friends and family.

Jodi was one of my best friends through 12 years of school and my maid of honor at my wedding.I loved her like the sister I never had. I shall treasure our memories. We did crazy fun things togeather all through school.
