Joe Bryant, a veteran, scholar, and master mechanic, passed away at the age of 77 in Oklahoma City. Born on March 9, 1949, in Hamlin, Texas, to Clara and Julius Bryant, Joe was a man defined by a sharp intellect, a deep sense of duty, and an unwavering devotion to his family.
A proud patriot, Joe served in the United States Army from 1968 to 1973. His military service laid the foundation for a lifetime of discipline and technical mastery. After his honorable discharge, Joe became a top-notch mechanic, respected by many for his ability to solve the most complex mechanical puzzles. His brilliance wasn't limited to the garage; Joe was a lifelong student who earned numerous academic degrees, proving that his curiosity and drive had no bounds.
Joe was a pillar of his community and a dedicated member of both the VFW (Veterans of Foreign Wars) and the Kiwanis Club. Through these organizations, he continued his life’s theme of service, supporting his fellow veterans and contributing to the well-being of those around him.
Joe was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Carol; his parents, Clara and Julius; and his cherished grandson, Terry Bryant.
His legacy of hard work, learning, and service lives on through his children: his daughter, Judith Homan, and his son, Joe Bryant II. He was a proud grandfather to his three surviving grandsons: Christopher Adams, Joe Bryant III, and Lane (Nathan) Bryant.
To his family, Joe was the man who could fix anything and explain everything. To his community, he was a steady friend and a brilliant mind. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Joe will be honored with a visitation at Advantage Funeral & Cremation Services, 7720 South Pennsylvania Ave, Oklahoma City, OK 73159, US, on April 13, 2026, from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm, followed by a funeral service starting at 12:00pm. Interment will follow at Ft. Sill National Cemetery, Elgin, Oklahoma.
