 
I had Mr. powers in 9th grade Physical Science. (class of 74).   Thought it was 
cool he always heated his tea water in a beaker on the Bunsen burner at his 
desk.  
He had more control over a class (with less effort) than any teacher i ever saw.  
Every day we had a quiz on the days lesson.  If someone got rowdy or loud he 
would stop what he was doing walk over to his grade book look over at the 
noisemaker with this stone face and if the disturbance didn't stop he would 
pencil in a deduction from the daily grade.  Very ingenious and very effective. 
His class was always orderly as a result.  One of my favorite teachers. 
 
My prayers go out to his family.

I loved him so much

Mr. Powers was one of the best teachers I ever had.  I graduated Carl Albert High School in 1967, earned a degree in Nursing from OU and a Master's Degree from University of NM.  Without Mr. Powers teaching me and making me believe I COULD, I doubt any of that would have happened.  He touched my life in ways that made me a better person.
