
Joel C. “J.C.” Johnson, 84, of Midwest City, passed away Thursday, October 24, 2013. J.C. was born June 19, 1929 in Borden County, Texas to William Henry and Alva Rena (Baker) Johnson. J.C. enjoyed being on the water in his boat and loved animals. He was known as an animal “charmer” and once had a squirrel so charmed that it would sit in a cherry tree eating cherries while J.C. stood right next to it and talked to it. J.C. loved the military and was proud of his service during the Korean and Vietnam Wars. J.C. enjoyed music. He would put on a tape in the morning and listen to music all day. His very favorite activity was dancing. J.C. and his wife Elberta danced all over the world from Germany to California, Texas, Maine and many places in between. When J.C. and Elberta glided across the floor, his face would just shine. They also belonged to many dance clubs over the years. J.C. spent over 45 years of his life teaching others to dance. He was able to teach ANY one to dance. J.C. is survived by his wife, Elberta; 2 daughters, Wanda Frazier and Cathy Joyce Puckett; grandchildren, Cindy, Joel, John, Ricky, Cody, Jessica, Amanda, Jennifer, Heather, Stephanie, Patrick, David, Angela and Mary; many great grandchildren and sister, Imogene Prather. He was preceded in death by his parents, grandson, David and 7 brothers and sisters.
