Mr. Hitchcock grew up in Paintsville, Kentucky, and was the son of the late Dallas Hitchcock and Nancy Ervin. He honorably served his Country in the Army for over 25 years and retired as a Sargent Major, earning several medals and specialty citations. Mr. Hitchcock served namely in Vietnam, Korea, Germany, Turkey, and was stationed throughout the United States. Upon retiring from the Army, he worked in the private communications industry and for over 13 years at the Oklahoma City VA.
Mr. Hitchcock is survived by a wife: Bonnie Hitchcock, siblings: Alice Coffman, Annette Hitchcock, Leonard Hitchcock, and William Hitchcock, four children: Anita Jackson, Rick Ford, Felipa “Flip” Alexander, and John Hitchcock, Jr. He also leaves behind four step-grandchildren: Jason Ford, Mark Balan, Scott Kanatsky, and Nicholas Balan, and two grandchildren: Willow Alexander and Logan Alexander.
Mr. Hitchcock is preceded in death by siblings: Christine Hitchcock, Robert Hitchcock, and Marlene Hitchcock, and his first wife: Maria Davila Hitchcock.
Memorial services with military honors will be held on Monday, January 22, 2018, at 10:00 AM at Advantage Funeral & Cremation Services. He will later be laid to rest at Ft. Sill National Cemetery in Elgin, OK.
