Dear Pat,  Linda and I were deeply saddened to hear of Don's passing.  Linda and I first met Don while we were students, Linda while she was a graduate student in Bill Mandy's laboratory at UT and I while I was a postdoctoral fellow with Jan Klein. In addition to being a good friend, Don significantly impacted my training and approach to science and teaching as we continued to cross paths throughout our careers. Don played an important role in supporting Linda and me as our relationship developed and we have always been grateful to the role that he played in our connection.
As Chairman of Immunology at UT Southwestern and in the same office as Don's before he went to OMRF, I have strived to continue his legacy in Immunology. I will always remember Don and will miss his kindness and enthusiasm for science.

I will always have fond memories of my time in the Capra lab at UTSW.  One of the best experiences I have encountered.  Hats off to a wonderful guy.  He will be missed.
