

Joe R. McCormick had been ill for some time prior to his death July 25, 2010, at his home in Oklahoma City. Joe was born October 5, 1916, in Hingham, Montana to his parents Sophia and Charles McCorimick who were among the early homesteaders in Montana. The family moved to Oklahoma when Joe was six years of age.
Joe graduated from Central High School in 1936. He had been a popular President of the Red Shirts Pep Club. He then attended Oklahoma City University prior to his military service. He served in the field artillery of the U.S. Army for a period of 3 year, 1942-1945. He attained the rank of 1st Lt. He was a proud WWII Veteran. Joe was a lifelong Catholic and a member of St. Eugene Catholic Church at the time of his death.
Joe was a member of the Honorable Order of the Blue Goose International Club, Men’s dinner club, Former President of the Revelers Dance Club, former member of the Mayfair Dance Club, serving as Board of Director Member and dance Comm. Member. He was also member of the Oklahoma Pioneers Adjusters Club and a member of the Oklahoma Historical Society.
Following his service in WWII, he then joined the General Adjustment Bureau as an adjuster in Oklahoma City, was transferred to Dallas and promoted to Examiner, Field Examiner, and Division Manager which included seven states. He retired from General Adjustment Bureau in 1974 to become Loss and Claims Manager for the Texas Catastrophe Association in Austin from whom he retired in January 1982.
In November 1982, Joe married Elsa Marcus. Both parents preceded him in death as well as his wife Elsa, granddaughter Elizabeth Heap and four brothers Jim, David, Arthur and John. Joe is survived by six children from his former wife Mary Lou Huckin. His children are: Joe Jr. and wife Kathy of OKC, William and wife Kay of Plano, Tx, John and wife Sylvia of Plano, Tx, Mary and husband Bill Hallmark of Houston, Tx, Carol Riordan of Dallas, Tx and Nancy and husband Bob Peiser of Houston, Tx. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m., Saturday, July 31, 2010, at St. Eugene Catholic Church with interment in Rose Hill Burial Park.
