Joy Sue McArthur Gaines was born on March 29, 1936 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. She is preceded in death by her two loving parents William I. McArthur and Goldie N. Harlin McArthur, her brother, William B. McArthur and her husband of 25 years, Vernon L. Gaines. Joy and Lee resided in Golden, Colorado.

Joy was a hard working woman. She worked for Perry & Butler Real Estate and Jefferson County Treasurer, where she retired from in March of 1997. She served as Active Committee Woman & Captain award from Jefferson County Republican Party. Joy was the President of Fairmount Homeowners Association and Coors Vice/Advice Volunteer Clowns. Her faith was very important to her, as she was a member and choir member of Applewood Baptist Church. She also was the Westside Parkinson’s Group Coordinator and active in the Heritage Singers of Applewood. Joy moved to Oklahoma in 2012 to be close her family.

She will be dearly missed by her children, son, Kenneth R. Bryson Jr. of Norman, Oklahoma; daughter, Susan G. Bryson Davis of Yukon, Oklahoma; son, James R. Bryson of Gillette, Wyoming; and son, John R. Bryson of Yukon, Oklahoma; and step-sons Terrell and Lee Gaines in Colorado. Joy also leaves behind grandchildren, Dawn M. Bryson-Melton (Jay); Nick Bryson (Jordon), Daniel Grazione (Stephanie), and Angela Gaines, as well as 16 great grandchildren to cherish her memory.

Have known Joy Sue since we were in the First grade at
Jefferson school in Shawnee ,OK. Visited with her at several
our SHS class reunions and after she moved back to OK..
Super Gal and very talented.
