Loving wife, mother, and grandmother, Judy Kay Jenkins was born January 26, 1947 in Seymour Texas to Boyd and Iris Jenkins. Growing up with three brothers, Glyndal Boyd, Roy, and Joe on a west Texas farm during the 50’s and 60’s was not easy. Nevertheless, Judy Kay graduated with honors from Seymour High School in 1965.

Dedication, perseverance, and boldness are crowning tenets of Judy Kay’s life, exemplified by graduating magna cum laude from Midwestern State University with her BBA, and later, with a perfect 4.0 GPA from Eastern New Mexico University with her MBA.

Judy’s tireless dedication to duty began with her commissioning as Second Lieutenant in the United States Air Force in 1974. Judy was a trailblazer. Life as a professional woman in the 70’s was challenging, let alone as a female officer in the military. It was not until 1976, two years after her commission, that women in the Air Force were even considered equal members. Judy Kay’s fortitude in the face of such extreme adversity helped pave the way for generations of women who now proudly serve equally as members of the United States Military.

While serving in the Air Force, Judy’s adventurous attitude and ranching heritage allowed her to rope and wrangle the love of her life, Clifford Gene Hanks. Cliff and Judy were married on February 8, 1975 and recently celebrated 44 years of marriage.

Building on her focus and attention to detail developed in the Air Force, Judy pursued a carrier in accounting. Joining the IRS in 1979 as an Internal Revenue Agent, Judy continued to study tax law until she received her CPA in 1982, passing her exam on her first attempt. From 1982 until 2000, Judy continued to excel in accounting, becoming Comptroller of the Stillwater Medical Center in Stillwater, Oklahoma and then the Manager of Financial Services for the Baylor Medical Center in Dallas, Texas.

A born adventurer and never one to shrink from a challenge, Judy Kay pushed out from corporate life and started her own businesses. First, building and operating the first Quiznos Subs shop in Oklahoma City and then, with son LB, owned and operated, the Guthrie Sears Dealer Store in Guthrie, Oklahoma, where she retired to care for her ailing mother.

Dedication, achievement, and success were exemplified in Judy's life, but her greatest achievement is family. Judy’s real legacy is marked by the life she and Cliff have built together, the love they share, and the family grown from it. Three wonderful children and eleven grandchildren. Lannie Boyd Hanks, father to Deven and Emma Hanks. Nathaniel Gene Hanks, husband to Jordan Hanks and father to Kyler, Ryleigh, and Lukas Hanks. Kathleen Corinne Rickman wife to Chris Rickman and mother to Christopher, Corinne, Carissa, Corbin, Cahra, and Claira Belle Rickman.

Judy went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Sunday, July 14th, surrounded by her family.

And now these three remain: Faith, Hope, and Love. But the greatest of these is love. 1 Corinthians 13:13
