Surrounded by his family, Justin Gardner, 88, passed away June 8th. Justin
leaves behind a long legacy of community service, faith, and a love of family. Justin
was born in St. Paul, Minn. and moved to Oklahoma City on his fifth birthday. He
graduated from Classen High School, attended the University of Oklahoma and served
as a Staff Sergeant during World War II in the US Army. He was a member of Emanuel
Synagogue for over 80 years.
Justin was known as the quintessential quiet giver-advocating for the needs of
the elderly, and anonymously covering expenses for someone in need. Justin brought
fairness and integrity to his lifetime of hard work, most often sharing his good fortune
through the community with no fanfare.
His business achievements started in 1936 with Gardner Hotel and Restaurant
Supply Company. Followed in 1959 with the beginning of Gardner Realty Company
and G & G Construction Company which is now known as Gardner Tanebaum
Holdings.
Preceded in death by his parents I.H. & Lorraine Gardner and sister Bernice
Lipkin. Survived by his loving wife Linda, his 3 daughters Debbie (Don) Nevard, Glenna
(Richard) Tanenbaum, Mindy (Jay) Levy, stepdaughters Gabrielle (Jeff) Freshour,
Victoria (Roy) Needham, Kathryn Ecdao, 6 grandchildren, 6 step grandchildren, and 7
great grandchildren.
The service will be at Emanuel Synagogue on Tuesday, June 10 at 11am
followed by burial in Emanuel Hebrew Cemetery.
