Kathryn Marilouise (Taylor) Violette passed away on Wednesday, February 18, 2026. She was born in Oklahoma City, Ok. on February 28, 1964 to Myrna (Sellers) Taylor and Jack H. Taylor, Jr. From a young age, it was clear that Katy was born to be assertive. Her brother, Jackie, drew a cartoon of her as a young teenager holding a clipboard and she graduated high school at the age of 16 – a testament to her early-developed work ethic.
At a petite 5’1 (and a half), others often found her to be much larger in love and strength. In her 20s, she fought and survived Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. In autumn 2023, she began her battle with breast cancer. In spring 2024, she survived a stroke. Throughout each major health event, she continued to work with minimal interruptions. At her retirement party, her colleagues described her as a caring and strong leader. She served over 40 years in her company and had a number of honorary siblings and adult children with her. She had a knack for leading others without them feeling led, and teaching others about their mistakes without them feeling chastised for it – a hard-perfected skill, which she enacted with ease and grace.
Outside of work she has continued the thread of kindness into her life with her family. She spent decades working full time, then coming home to cook dinner and take her daughter, Casey, to after-school activities. Katy was emotionally and financially supportive through each phase and struggle in her daughter’s life so far. She has always been willing to give what she has to help others thrive. This ranged from supporting her family to occasionally taking in her daughter’s friends as her own. Her goal after retirement was to complete acts of kindness each week with her granddaughter to continue to fuel Willow’s passion for justice and healing the earth. She spent her last week earthside fulfilling many of her retirement goals to spend time with her family, to take care of herself and remain active, and to enjoy her well-earned time away from work life. She had many more plans left, but was blessed by a beautiful, healthy, and happy final week. Those she knew are lucky to have been a part of her life.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Myrna and Jack, and her brothers, Vernon, Jackie, Philip, and Stephen. She is additionally preceded in death by her sweet dogs Bud and Buddy. She is survived by her husband, Walter Violette of Norman, Ok.; her daughter and her husband, Casey Violette Haskins and Kody Haskins of Norman, Ok.; her granddaughter, Willow Haskins of Norman, Ok.; her sisters, Shannon Taylor and Stephanie Taylor of Frisco, Tx.; her brother-in-law, Don Taylor of Frisco, Tx.; her sister-in-law, Denise Tarango Taylor of Frisco, Tx.; her nieces, Ashley McKinnon of Castle Rock, Co., Christine Wallis-Collins of Toronto, Ontario, and Lucca and Landree Tarango Taylor of Frisco, Tx.; and her nephews, Cody Parkin of Denver, Co., Zac Taylor of Denison, Tx.; and Donovan Taylor of Frisco, Tx.
