

Larry Charles Brawner, of Oklahoma City, OK was born on December 16, 1944 in Shawnee, OK. He passed away on April 3, 2016. He attended Shawnee schools and was editor of the school paper, excelled in track and graduated in 1963. He attended OBU and transferred to East Central University in Ada, graduating with a double major in political science and history. He went on to OU School of Law and received his Juris Doctorate degree. His jobs included time as a disc jockey, news anchor for ABC affiliate KTEN-TV, legal counsel for Governor David Hall and Governor George Nigh, General Counsel for the Department of Consumer Credit, Workers’ Compensation Court Judge and the Associate Provost of the OU Health Science Center. He was appointed to the OU Board of Regents by Governor David Walters. Larry was the lead attorney for Edward DeBartolo, David Vance and Robert Schreiber in bringing Remington Park to OKC. Afterwards he went into private practice defending companies in Workers’ Compensation cases. He was A-V rated by Martindale Hubbell and was a prominent defense attorney with Brawner, Lott and Associates, PLLC.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Leland and Dorothy Brawner and brother Don. He is survived by his wife Teresa Davis; daughter Taryn Nicole (Mother: Judy Brawner) and husband Weston Sterling and their son, Caleb; daughter, Andrea Remington Brawner (Mother: Jacque Brawner Dean); his brother Richard and wife, Linda; Teresa’s daughter, Monica Lynn Cameron and numerous nieces and nephews.
He loved boating at Lake Texoma, OU sports and the Democratic Party. He was a man of wisdom and conviction and his favorite saying was, “He could forgive but he would never forget.”
Funeral services will be at Hahn-Cook, 6600 N Broadway Extension on Wednesday, April 6th, 2016 at 3:30.
