

Larry spent his childhood and teenage years in and around Newcomerstown, OH. He attended Madison Schools, where he made many lifelong friends, who still gather when he came to visit. He graduated from NCT High School in 1957.
After high school, Larry joined the Navy, planning to make this a career. When President Eisenhower went to China, Larry was a member of the crew that flew coverage for his trip. Larry planned a career in Air Traffic Control but discovered he had Thyroid Cancer and received a medical discharge.
Larry married Sandra Pelham in 1958, two children were born from this marriage, Larry Stephen “Steve” and Tracy LaGale.
Larry had a very successful and exciting career in Civil Service. He worked on Global Positioning Satellites and got to observe lift-off of one of the satellites. He ended his long Civil Service career at Tinker Air Force Base in 1993.
In August 1993 Larry met Janie at singles Sunday school class, FBC, Moore in the class of Tom Chase. They talked most of Sunday and Monday nights, had their first date on Tuesday at Sherris Diner. At 7 am, Wednesday, he called her and told her he loved her. They were married on November 27,1993 after a whirlwind and very sleep deprived courtship.
Larry and Janie are charter members at EHC. Larry was very involved in OKC jail ministries for almost 10 years and was a whiz kid mentor for 25 years.
Larry is survived by his wife, Janie Lewis; daughter, Tracey Fayfitch; stepson, David Servais and wife, Robyn; stepdaughter, Nicole Huneke; brother, Mark and Sue Lewis, sister in law, Jackie and husband, Bill Miles; 10 grandchildren, Stephanie, Cassie and Brian Vogel, Dillyn Fayfitch, Christian and Brandon Lewis, Caleb and Anna Lewis, JaLayna and Savannah Lewis, Rilee Lewis, Morgan and Mac Wingo, Braden Servais, Kassie Nance, and Austin Nance; 15 great-grandchildren; Nephews, Jamie and Lauren Lewis and Collin and Amanda Miles; Neice, Angie Lewis. Also, a host of family and friends and his precious Macey, of the home.
Larry is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Ralphie; son, Steve; and grandson Drew. He is also preceded in death by numerous aunts, uncles, and other relative and friends, as well as his much-beloved Mikey, who preceded him in death by 5 days.
Visitation for Larry will be held at Advantage Funeral Home on Tuesday, August 25,2026 from 3 pm – 7 pm. Services will be held on Thursday, August 27 at 2 pm at Eagle Heights Church located at 12001 S Portland Ave, Oklahoma City, OK.
