Larry Keith Young

Larry Keith Young, 69, passed away peacefully on July 19, 2026 surrounded by his immediate family. Larry was born on July 18, 1957, in Oklahoma City, OK to Ronald Carl and Barbara Jeanne (Darr) Young.

Larry grew up in Oklahoma City alongside his three brothers—Ron Jr., Ed, and Phillip. A standout athlete, he excelled on the football field and graduated from Heritage Hall before earning his bachelor's degree from Oklahoma State University in 1979 and later becoming a Certified Public Accountant (CPA). Larry’s son, James (Jay), was born in 1982.

Larry began his accounting career in Oklahoma City. After working in public accounting, he entered the insurance industry with Globe Life. His career later took him to California, where he lived in both San Diego and Los Angeles before returning to Oklahoma City in 2016 to be closer to his son and grandchildren. During the final five years of his career, he enjoyed working alongside his brother at INSURICA. The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the INSURICA family—especially the Accounting team—for their friendship, support, and kindness throughout Larry's illness.

Larry will be remembered for his strong work ethic, thoughtful heart, and fun-loving spirit. Larry never sought the spotlight. He found his greatest joy in caring for his family, encouraging those around him, and quietly doing the right thing. As Jay was growing up, Larry loved spending summers exploring Hollywood, racing go-karts, riding roller coasters, and attending professional baseball games throughout Southern California. He was also an avid Oklahoma State sports fan and enjoyed nothing more than grilling on weekends.

Larry is survived by his loving son and daughter-in-law, Jay & Heather Young; his grandchildren Kylie (13), Addisyn (12), Lily (7), & Kadyn (5). He is also survived by his brothers, Ron Young, Ed & his wife Mindy Young, his niece and husband Cassidy and Tim Hedrick, & nephew and wife Austin and Alexis Young. He was the proud great-uncle of Wyatt, Lucas, George, and Eliora, as well as many beloved cousins.

Larry is reunited in Heaven with his parents, Ronald and Barbara, and his younger brother, Phillip. While he will be deeply missed, his kindness, quiet strength, and love for his family will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew him.

To celebrate Larry’s life, a memorial service will be held on August 10, 2026 at 10:00 am at the chapel of Hahn-Cook/Street & Draper Funeral Directors in Oklahoma City. In lieu of flowers, the family invites you to honor Larry by sharing a favorite memory or story that celebrates the joy he brought to others.
