Lawrence Ray Potter, 91, of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully on April 5, 2025.
Born on August 10, 1933, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Lawrence lived a full life marked by dedication, service, love for his wife and family, and love for the outdoors.
A proud veteran, Lawrence served in the U.S. Army and National Guard from 1953 to 1961.
After his service, he worked for 30+ years with the Oklahoma City Parks and Recreation Department.
It wasn't a "job" because he loved working with his crew and mowing parks for the kiddos!
Retiring as Crew Chief, he made a lasting impact on the OKC community.
Lawrence had a deep love for nature, taking care of his lake property, grilling fish and burgers, and spent many cherished days bass fishing at Lake Keystone.
He enjoyed all things outdoors and found joy in the simplicity and peace it brought.
Lawrence was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Charlotte Ann Potter. Also preceded in death by granddaughter, Carol Burke; sisters, Frankie Fugitt and Wanda Gamble; and his best friend, Carl Messner.
Lawrence will be greatly missed by his daughter, Cindy (Sandmann) Potter and her ex-husband, Charles Sandmann Jr, grandsons Charles William Sandmann III and Chase Alexander Sandmann and his wife Ashley; and his niece, Niki Rea Jay and her husband John Jay.
He will be remembered for his kind heart, strong spirit, and unwavering love for his family.
A Service to Celebrate Lawrence's life will be held at Chapel Hill Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens, 8701 Northwest Expressway, Oklahoma City, OK , Friday, April 11, 2025, at 2:00 PM
