Layton Sherry Urquhart, 88 year-old former longtime resident of Midwest City, Oklahoma, passed away April 6, 2019 in Norman, Oklahoma. He was born March 13, 1931 in Eufaula, Oklahoma as the son of Bethel Edgar Urquhart and Cora Berthal (Clanton) Urquhart. Layton was a proud Navy veteran of the Korean Conflict. He had been a barber for over 57 years and was a “part-time” minister who loved to teach Sunday School and Bible Studies. Layton was a natural storyteller who loved to enthrall all who would listen and he enjoyed reading religious books. Preceding him in death were his parents, his wife Myra Urquhart and 2 brothers who passed away at birth. Survivors include one son, Danny and his wife Kim Urquhart of Pontiac, Michigan; two daughters, Sheri and her husband Richard Ruzycki of Jones, OK; and Debra Hernandez of Oklahoma City, OK; 4 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and 1 sister, Margaret Sams of Meeker, Oklahoma. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, April 12, 2019 at Bill Eisenhour Northeast Chapel, 8805 NE 23rd St., Oklahoma City, OK 73141 with burial to follow military honors at Arlington Memory Gardens, Midwest City, Oklahoma.
