Leonard "Ray" Raymond, took his final breaths on earth in the early hours of 5/12/2022, at 80 years old, surrounded by his wife and daughters after a long battle with COPD caused by asbestos exposure during his time serving in our country's Navy. A Vietnam veteran who served three tours and took pride in his various roles throughout his enlistment, he also served his community as a police officer for over 20 years. A father of three girls and an uncle, grandfather and friend to many, Ray was very much loved and adored during his time here. He enjoyed spending time in the casino, watching any and all sports, reading and watching any western he could lay his hands or eyes on, and before falling ill he enjoyed tinkering in his shop building things by hand and making homemade wine, singing karaoke and having large parties on the patio with family and friends. His favorite phrase to tell those he loved was, "If you can't behave, be careful" and that's exactly how he lived his own life.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Hiram and Gladys Raymond; and daughter, Lynn Devereaux.
He is survived by his wife, Connie; 3 sisters, Ivon, Lorene, and Geneva; brother, Jr.; daughter, Stephanie and son-in-law Scott Sandberg; daughter Rhonda and son-in-law Ramy Brooks; 7 grandchildren namely, Michael, Summer, Zackery, Teri Lynn, Justin, Laci, and Jerrin; 13 great-grandchildren, along with several nieces, nephews and extended family.
A visitation for Leonard will be held from 4:00 p.m., Tuesday, May 17, 2022 at Bill Eisenhour Funeral Home, 8805 NE 23rd Street, Oklahoma City, OK 73141. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, May 18, 2022 at the Bill Eisenhour Funeral Home Chapel with interment to follow at Fort Gibson National Cemetery at 2:30 p.m.
