Les was born December 12, 1924 in Frederick, Oklahoma to Nathaniel and Florence Alexander. He departed from this life to join his Heavenly Father on February 19, 2014. During WWII, he served in the US Navy as a B-26 Flight Engineer, based at Pearl Harbor. After release from the service, he worked in production control assignments for Northrop Aircraft for three years and then decided to continue his education. He earned his BS in Accounting and Business Administration in 1952 from Oklahoma City University. Les worked for Big Chief Drilling Company for 35 years as Comptroller. Les married his loving wife, Doris Bobbye, on December 21, 1950. They shared 59 1/2 loving years together before her death in 2010. Les loved being outdoors, camping and fishing with family and friends. He was a member of numerous camping clubs throughout the years. His favorite hobby was tinkering with cars. He will be remembered as a quiet, patient and reserved gentleman, loving husband, father and grandfather. Les was a very spiritual man with a strong personal faith and relationship with Jesus Christ.
He is survived by two sons, Lynn Hays Alexander and Clark Wesley Alexander; daughter, Leslye Carol Finley and Don Finley; grandchildren, Dylan Alexander, Rhett Finley, Alexandra Finley, Carye Finley, Justin Alexander and Michael Dougherty. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and other extended family. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Bobbye; his siblings, Nathaniel Alexander, Bernice Hiner, Geniece Parker and Frank Alexander. The family would like to extend their gratitude to the Intermediate Heart Care Team of Doctors and Nurses at Integris Baptist Hospital for excellent care in his final days. Graveside services to honor Les will be 3:00 p.m., Friday, February 21, 2014 at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
