

Liberty Marks “Bibby” born in Kansas City, MO on September 12th, 1918 left her physical body early on the morning of November 8, 2011 and entered her heavenly state. Liberty was preceded in death by her parents Sophia and George Merkouris “Marks”; her sister Connie G. Demopolos; brother in law Judge P. James Demopolos; her brother Johnny G Marks; niece Tonia Wright and her husband Jerry Wright. Survivors include her sister Catherine Marks; sister in law Dana Marks; nephew Joey Marks; nephew Jim Demopolos and his wife Kim; great nephew James Andre Demopolos, his wife Emily and their daughters Sofia and Rebecca and son Matthew; great nephew Chris Wright, his wife Amy and their sons Harrison and Teddy.
Liberty’s family moved to the United States as Greek immigrants and would eventually settle in Oklahoma City. Liberty attended school at Emerson Elementary, Roosevelt Middle School and then graduated from Central High School in 1936. A memory not shared or remembered often enough is the fact that during high school and right afterwards she sang in a trio with her sister Connie Demopolos and Ruth Mathis. These ladies performed regionally and were very popular according to Liberty’s sister Catherine.
Liberty’s professional career began with the WPA or Worker’s Progress Administration. She ended her professional career as a Vice President and Trust Officer for First National Bank. She did continue to work part time in property management and commercial real estate until she was no longer able to get around.
Liberty Marks and her spirit will be truly missed. She was a very special individual and a successful business woman in the days when that was a very hard accomplishment. Her kindness, unconditional love, extreme generosity, professionalism, compassion and wisdom will never be forgotten. We will miss you Bibby.
