Kaye was born on March 15, 1946 to Dona and Cecil Schoelen of Kingfisher, OK. She grew up on a farm NE of Kingfisher and was the fourth of six daughters. She attended Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic School through eighth grade. She then went on to graduate from Kingfisher High in 1964. After HS she studied biology at OSU and was a member of Tri Delta Sorority. After graduating with her biology degree, she soon realized she wanted to pursue teaching and went back to OSU to get her teaching certificate. Later while teaching in Las Vegas she earned her Master’s in Special Education from UNLV. During her life, she lived in Arizona and Washington and then settled in Fort Worth where she taught middle school for 20 years. She retired from teaching in 2006 and moved to OKC to be close to her family. She enjoyed her many hobbies during retirement including jewelry making, ceramics, gardening, playing games and crosswords. She was a member and officer of The Registry, a dance group in OKC. Above all else she enjoyed being with her three grandchildren who adored her.
Kaye was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Cecilia. She is survived by her daughter Adria Fife Sanditen and husband Brad, of Tulsa; grandchildren Will, Sam and Phifer; sisters Barbara Smola, Betty Johnson, Ruth Crockett, Janice Bako and husband Elemer; many nieces and nephews, family and friends.
Service will be held at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Oklahoma City on Friday the 10th at 10am.
