Linda Sue Jones

Linda Sue Jones was born in Hobart, OK to Doris and Mardie Yell on Feb. 19, 1950. She was the third daughter born of seven children. She went to be with the rest of her loved ones in heaven on June 15, 2026.

Linda grew up in Nicoma Park until she married Airman Al Keeton on Dec 22, 1967. Being in the military, they traveled the world. While stationed in England, they received their first blessing, James Glenn Keeton Feb 12, 1971, and then while stationed in the Philippines along came their second blessing, Jeffrey Dean Keeton on Feb 4, 1975. She left the Philippines and moved to the big state of Texas where she met and married Carl Jones. She resided in Amarillo, TX for 35 years.

She worked at Krause landscaping for over a decade while she ran her own small business on the side. At the time of retirement, she worked as a Correctional Officer for the state of Texas, or at least that’s what she told us. She might have been an inmate for all we know.

After she made parole, or I mean retired, she moved back to Nicoma Park to be close to her siblings where she resided until she received her heavenly wings, or her horns and tail (we haven’t received confirmation on that just yet.) LOL, on June 15, 2026.

Linda was as onery as it came, but she was so much fun. She loved to laugh and was so naïve. She was helping answer phones at a pump and supply when the fax machine started ringing and of course, she was yapping when finally, Billy said, “do you hear that?”, she said yeah. He said, “answer it”, she asked “how?”. He said, “just say hello to it”. So, there she was standing and yelling hello until everyone fell out on the floor laughing.

This last Thanksgiving, she fell and broke her shoulder, she said she fell over a planter, but it could’ve been the tequila, we’re not sure. But we all had a good laugh out of it either way. She said she was glad she made everyone laugh. She found humor in just about anything.

Linda was full of life and loved a good joke. Her friend Billy could always lift her spirits when no one else could. She enjoyed family gatherings and loved a good meal. Her favorite was when Billy took her to Monterey Jack’s which he did frequently. Billy and her family kept her happy and full.

She appreciated everyone that helped her, especially Billy and Kevin. When they say, “it takes a village”, well it really does!

Linda was preceded in death by her son James, her mom and dad, Brothers Dean and Doyle, Sister Margaret, Nephews Nathan and Kevin, and her favorite Aunt Sue.

Her village left to cherish her memory and celebrate her life are her son and daughter in law, Jeff and Brenda Keeton, daughter in law Joanna Keeton, brother Jim, “who was so sad she past away a democrat”, and his wife Connie Yell, her “know it all” sister Beverly and her poor husband Gary Cosby, who put up with them two arguing over who was right, her favorite sister Lori Yell (guess you can figure out who wrote the obituary huh?) 6 grandchildren, Stephen, Jason, Brandon, Gregory, Meggan and Tesa. 11 great grandchildren, 6 nieces, 9 nephews, many great nieces and nephews, the Cox cousins, and last but not least, her best friend Billy Ooten.

Linda was a very Special Lady and she touched so many lives. She loved her God and her family and she will be missed deeply by all who had the privilege to know her!
