Mrs. Linda Nell Boland Smith, age 78, of Oklahoma City, passed away on Monday June 2, 2025 after a short illness.
Linda was born on March 19, 1947 in Wewoka, Oklahoma to Ora Lee Lowe and Eugene Boland. Before grade school, the family moved to Choctaw, Oklahoma, where Linda graduated in 1965. She then went to Lee University in Cleveland, Tennessee, majoring in English.
It was while at Lee University that Linda met the love of her life, Robert Wallace Smith, and they were married on June 28, 1968 in Choctaw, Oklahoma. After moving several times, Robert and Linda settled down in Independence, Missouri, where Linda worked for the insurance industry.
In May of 1980 they welcomed their miracle, Jeffrey Scott. In 1983, Robert and Linda moved to Oklahoma City so Linda could work for Globe Life Insurance and be closer to family. She retired from Globe Life as a computer programmer/manager in 2010.
Linda enjoyed gardening, crocheting, plastic canvas, reading, collecting Beanie Babies, and playing computer games. She was a proud member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. But her favorite role was Grandma to Addie, Destiny, and Ethan.
Those left to cherish her memory include husband of 56 years Robert of the home, son Jeffrey (and wife Melissa) of Newalla, OK, grandchildren Addie, Destiny, and Ethan Smith of Oklahoma City, sister Sharon Barnard of Midwest City, brother-in-law Ronnie (and wife Marcella) of Douglasville, GA, as well as nieces, nephews, and cousins. She is preceded in death by her parents Ora Lee and Eugene Boland, her brothers Johnny and Michael, and her brother-in-law Van.
