Lloyd Clifton Landsdown ~ Beloved Son, Husband, Father, Uncle & Grandpa ~ passed from this life on Thursday, June 13th, 2024 ~ He was 86 years old.
Lloyd was born April 13th, 1938 to Tom & Esther (Epperson) Landsdown. He grew up on a farm, east of Tecumseh, OK.
He was a farm kid, long before it was cool. Lloyd had a sister, Annabelle, who was 13 years his senior. Lloyd’s parents were always very vocal of how proud they were of their strong, smart, handsome son and all he did to help his parents and sister.
Lloyd attended school and graduated high school from Earlsboro Public Schools in Earlsboro, OK. After graduating high school, he attended college at Murray State College in Tishomingo, OK before joining the United States Air Force.
While serving in the Air Force, Lloyd met and fell in love with Myrna Lynn Day. She was the younger sister of Marvin Day, one of his Air Force buddies. Lloyd & Myrna were immediately smitten with each other and were married November 12th, 1961. Lloyd was later stationed at Dover Air Force Base in Dover, Delaware. The newlyweds packed their few belongings and headed to the east coast. After the Cuban Missile Crisis was resolved, Lloyd’s time in the military was finished. He and Myrna returned to the Tecumseh / Shawnee area.
Lloyd worked for Coca Cola in Oklahoma City, before being hired at Tinker Air Force Base as a civilian aircraft maintenance supervisor.
Lloyd and Myrna lived in Del City, OK where they were blessed with 3 children: Larry Brian was born in 1964, Gary Clifton was born in 1967 and their daughter, Kerry Lynn came along in 1969. Eventually, the family moved to Tecumseh, OK to be close to Lloyd’s parents. The family attended church at the Community of Christ Church (formerly RLDS) in Seminole, OK. Lloyd served as a Deacon and he shared the gift of his beautiful baritone voice when he sang in the church choir.
Lloyd and Myrna enjoyed 18 years of marriage, but eventually divorced.
Lloyd met and fell in love with fellow Tinker employee, Sharon Ann Wade. Sharon worked “day shift” and Lloyd worked “night shift”. They met because Lloyd kept trying to get more office supplies than Sharon thought he needed. She was in charge of the inventory and Lloyd became kind of a pest about it. They would leave annoying notes on the locked supply closet door for each other. They did resolve their office supply differences and were married August 22nd, 1980. They made their home in Midwest City, OK. Lloyd gained a bonus daughter, Debra Ann. Sharon gained 2 bonus sons, Larry & Gary and gained a bonus daughter, Kerry.
Lloyd & Sharon enjoyed 43 years of marriage together. They spent their time planning landscape projects, building projects, going camping, traveling and spending time with family. Lloyd retired from Tinker AFB after 35+ years and enjoyed being at home, puttering around the house and working on many “Honey Do Lists”.
