Arrangements under the direction Lois Maxine Hayes went to be with her Lord and Savior on December 16, 2010. She was born to Wes and Thelma Brown on September 19, 1930, in Wanette, Oklahoma. She had two siblings: a twin brother, Louis Gene, who died in childhood, and her brother Wesley, who passed away in 2004.
Her father was an oil-field worker, and they moved frequently during her childhood throughout Oklahoma and California. She eventually settled in Luther, where she met the love of her life, Kenneth Hayes. They were married in 1953. Kenneth and Maxine were married for 48 years before he preceded her in death on March 3, 2002.
For nearly fifty years, she and Kenneth lived in either Luther or Jones, Oklahoma. She was a long-time member of First Baptist Church in Luther; she and Kenneth were enthusiastic supporters of Falls Creek. Maxine worked at Kerr-McGee before turning her talents to becoming a full-time mother and homemaker, although she was always by Kenneth's side during his long career at First State Bank, Jones, OK. Her two daughters, Kim and Kay, were her great joy, along with her beloved son-in-law Elwood and her five grandchildren, Kyle, Haley, Trey, Lance, and Rhett, and their families, including Michelle, Justin, and Jordan. She was able to meet her first great-grandchild, Sylvie, born earlier this year. Maxine was deeply loved by her brother Wesley's family, Nancy, Wesley Keith, Randy, Aimee, and Janet. All will miss her love, her warmth, and her great sense of style.
For years, her son-in-law Elwood was her devoted physician, providing dedicated and loving support. The family is deeply grateful for the tender care Maxine received in her last months from Johnnie and Lillie of SeniorCare and Sharece and Markita of Excell Hospice.
