Louise was born in Chicago, Illinois on March 26, 1941 to parents Glen and Mary Ellingson. Born in the big city, Louise always dreamed of the country life. She moved her family to Arkansas where she met the love of her life Merle Fountain; they were married in 1975.
Louise had a passion for cooking and after many years of working in a variety of restaurants, she opened her own place “The Patio Café” in Decatur, Arkansas. After a successful run and looking for a new adventure, The Fountain clan moved to Oklahoma. Louise furthered her career in food service and became a registered dietitian. She received her teaching certificate in 1986 and taught classes at Piedmont Public Schools, Francis Tuttle Vocational Center and the Guthrie Job Corp winning several awards for achievements and recognition.
Upon retirement, Merle and Louise moved to Lebanon, Oklahoma and opened “The AOK Café” and they enjoyed running the business until Merle’s failing health forced them to close. The couple then moved to Midwest City, Oklahoma at which time she returned to food service at Midwest Regional Hospital until 2009.
Following Merles death in 2011, Louise moved back to Oklahoma City in 2012 and became active in the senior community. She made many friends and helped them in various ways, such as helping neighbors get groceries from the local food bank on a monthly basis. Louise enjoyed an occasional trip to the casino and living close to her children. Admired for her wonderful cooking, Louise also was an excellent seamstress and enjoyed crafting. She was an avid Oklahoma City Thunder fan, even attending games at the Chesapeake Arena on several occasions.
Louise overcame many obstacles throughout her life, she battled and beat breast cancer 2010 to live out her senior days; single, happy and independent doing it all her way.
Earlier this year, her old foe returned and after a courageous fight, surrounded by her loving family and friends, she succumbed to the disease. She left this world fighting until the end on August 28, 2017.
Outspoken and opinionated, witty and unforgettable, the world is now a little less interesting without Louise in it. Your family will always love and miss you.
