Lynda Dawson, 81, of Edmond, Oklahoma, passed from this life October 29, 2020. She was born February 9, 1939 in Oklahoma City, the daughter of Forrest Lynn “Jiggs” Griffin and Clovis Griffin French.
She met her husband, Alvaro Malavé, while attending school at Central State College, what is now known as University of Central Oklahoma. The two married and moved to Stillwater, where her sons, Ted and Kent, were born. She subsequently moved to Venezuela where she learned to speak Spanish and embraced the Venezuelan culture and her new family.
She returned to the United States with her boys and later was married to Dick Dawson until his passing in 2006. Lynda was blessed with three children by marriage, Rick, Pam and Susie, whom she loved as her own.
In August 2018 she remarried Alvaro Malavé, and they enjoyed love and companionship for the rest of her life.
In her early years she enjoyed riding horses, twirling baton and focusing on her studies. Reading was a constant favorite pastime throughout her life. Lynda was an avid Sooner fan and an accomplished tailgater. She also enjoyed traveling and visited nearly every state and several countries including Australia, New Zealand, and the United Arab Emirates.
Lynda enjoyed many occupations, including teacher, bookkeeper and eventually retired from Tinker Air Force Base as Manager of Computer Services.
She is predeceased by her parents, her brother, Warren “Jiggs” Griffin, her husband, Richard Keith Dawson and her step-daughter Susan Wightman. She is survived by her husband, Alvaro Malavé; her sister-in-law Carol Jean Dawson and daughter Marjorie Cobb, her son, Alvaro “Ted” Malavé and his wife Vicki; her son Kent Malavé and his wife, Amanda; Richard K. Dawson, Jr. and his wife Sloan; Pam Cobb and her husband David; her grandchildren: Amy Bryan Schmitz, Melissa Pleasant, David Malave, John Hamilton, Lauren Bieri, Aaron Hamilton, John Victory, Cody Victory, Cody Cobb, Brett Cobb, Ross Wightman, Wendy Wightman, Brandon Dawson, Scott Dawson and numerous great-grandchildren and several great great-grandchildren.
What a legacy, what a life, what a wife, what a mother, what a lady. I invite each of you to keep Lynda alive in your hearts. We are all better because of her.
