M. Louise Murphey Mock

M. Louise Mock was born August 1, 1919 near Roosevelt, Oklahoma to P.F. and Verbia Murphey, both of whom predeceased her. She is one of seven children born to this union, She is survived by one sister, Bertha Cowger of Iowa. She is predeceased by her five other siblings: Ruby Mansell, Viola Johnson, Elmer Murphey, Dale Murphey, and J.C. Murphey.

Louise married J. Haskell Mock in Hobart, Oklahoma on December 21, 1938 and they had been married 75 years until her passing. Haskell survives her, and currently resides at the Mansions of Waterford in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. During their marvelous marriage, they were blessed with two sons: Wayne E. Mock and Randall D. Mock. Wayne and his wife Tineke reside in Stein, Netherlands, and have four children: Cheryl Mock Magnus, David W. Mock, Patrick Dennis Liem and Steven Albert Liem. Randall D. Mock of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, whose wife Sally predeceased him, were blessed with their two children Adam Peterson Mock (wife Sayaka Nasu) of Mount Pleasant, Michigan; and Caroline Louise Mock, of Seattle Washington.

When Adam and Caroline were much younger, Louise and Haskell valued and enjoyed babysitting the children each Saturday night when it was "date" night for Sally and Randall. These were memories that are treasured both by Louise and Haskell, as well as Adam and Caroline.

Louise was devoted to her family and her church, First Baptist Church of Bethany, where she and Haskell were active for many years. She worked for years outside of the home, performing accounting and clerical duties for a number of businesses. She had a keen mind for numbers and always wanted her bank account to balance each month.

Louise also enjoyed quilting and maintained a quilting frame in her living room for many years, usually making gifts of the quilts to celebrate important family dates, such as marriages, anniversaries and birthdays. Her quilts are precious treasures to each recipient!

She and Haskell maintained a vegetable garden in their backyard at their home on Northwest 61st Street for many years and enjoyed the friendship of their friendly and helpful neighbors.

While healthy, they often enjoyed traveling in their recreational vehicle to a number of lakeside membership clubs, with Thousand Trails being their favorite.

In her later years, she lived in the Mansion at Waterford apartments, and later at Warr Acres Nursing Center. Louise was a truly a jewel in God's crown, and leaves behind numerous memories to be passed on for generations to come.
