Magdalena “Lena” Sheff, 81, of Nicoma Park, OK passed away Thursday, June 18, 2015. She was born July 15, 1933 in the Philippines to Valentine and Teodora (Ronqilio) Liwanag. Lena grew up in the Philippines where she met and married her first husband, Francisco Medina. After his death in 1964, Lena took a job at Clark Air Force Base altering uniforms to support her family. There she met Carl Sheff while altering his uniforms. The two fell in love and married in 1968 before they moved back to the states with her oldest son. In 1972, Lena’s other children and mother moved from the Philippines to be with them. In Oklahoma, Lena worked as a seamstress before retiring from Century Martial Arts in October of 1995. In Lena’s new found spare time, she enjoyed growing vegetables and flowers and cooking. She prepared dinner for her family every Sunday and Wednesday and her recipes from the Philippines have yet to be duplicated. She loved and adored her family and spending time with them, but some say her true passion in life was spoiling her grandchildren, often babysitting and picking them up from school. Lena was a long-time member of Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church until their closure when she became a member at St. Philip Neri in Midwest City. With her faith by her side, Lena became a two time cancer survivor. Lena always had a smile on her face and love in her heart for everyone. Lena left a mark on everyone that she met, especially her family who loved her as much as she loved them. She will be greatly missed. She is survived by her daughter, Lorna Bohn and husband George; son, Ismael Liwanag and wife Angel; grandchildren, David Randel, Dalena Reed and husband Marty, Alex Bohn, Brandon Bohn, and Blake Bohn; great granddaughter, Madison Khoh; special friends, Ken and Jean Meehan and her “fur” friend Bella. She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Francisco Medina; husband Carl Sheff; son, Dante Medina; daughter, Susan Joesting; and brother, Remey. Wake services will be Sun. June 21, 2015, 6:00 p.m. at Bill Eisenhour Northeast Chapel and Mass of Christian Burial will be Mon. June 22, 2015, 10:00 a.m. at St. Philip Neri Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Arlington Memory Gardens.
