I woke up early this morning, perhaps in anticipation of what the sunrise might bring, the knowledge of the passing of Marge, and it gave me pause to think of my mother and the women of the Greatest Generation. They lived through the great depression, World War II, numerous other natural and man made disasters, and although they were never hesitant about getting their hands dirty or their dress soiled accomplishing the day’s task, they always rose up with grace, beauty and dignity. This epitomized Marjorie Belle Moree who went to be with the Lord and her ever-loving Jack on April 15, 2021.
Marge was born on August 9th, 1926 in Lone Wolf, Oklahoma. She lived most of her life in Oklahoma City graduating from Putnam City High School and working as a real estate agent for over 25 years doing what she did best, helping others. She had two great loves in her life, the Lord and her family. Although she never withheld the verbal expression of her love, it was her look and smile and gentle touch that endowed the recipient of that love with the warmth and comfort that only a special person can give. She loved her Joy Sunday School Class at Quail Springs Baptist Church, shopping, although she very rarely bought anything for herself, and cooking, especially for family and friends. Her gift and passion was serving others and she never tired of it.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband Jack L Moree, by her mother and father Charles W and Orpha G Smith, her two brothers Wally and James Smith and her sister Janette Landsberger. Marge was survived by her loving daughter Cindi, her granddaughter Carey Coates and her husband Keith and their baby girl of Dallas, Texas, granddaughter and first name sake Marjorie (Maggie) Rapp of Dallas, and grandson Charlie Rapp, his wife Nancy and second name sake Marjorie (Margie) Rapp of Oklahoma City. She was also survived by her brother Norman Smith, his wife Kay and numerous members of her extended family that she held dear.
She was also survived by me, Jimmy Rapp, her son in law. My mother was taken from us far too early in life and so the Lord blessed me with Marge to fill her shoes over the past 45 years, not merely by her presence, but by her example of how to be a true Child of God and in every way a Lady.
Marge will be held in state at the Hahn-Cook/Street & Draper Funeral Directors at 6600 N Broadway Ext. in Oklahoma City on Tuesday April 20th from 8:a.m. to 8:p.m. with graveside services being held on Wednesday April 21st at 1:00 pm at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, 8701 Northwest Expressway in Oklahoma City.
The family requests in lieu of flowers to please make donations to Infant Crisis Services of Oklahoma City or Quail Springs Baptist Church.
