But now, O Lord, you are our Father;
We are the clay, and you are our potter;
We are all the work of your hand.
Buck Dollarhide passed away quietly at his home in Guthrie on the morning of Friday, April 10th. He was the husband of Sharron Dollarhide. They shared 41 beautiful years together as husband and wife.
Born in Leominster, Massachusetts, Buck was the son of William and Jean Dollarhide, the oldest of five and brother to four sisters: Connie, Gayle, and Linda, and Vivian. He graduated from Shidler High School in Shidler, Oklahoma before earning his Bachelors and Masters degrees from Oklahoma State University, where he taught Algebra while continuing his own education. He later became a custom home builder in Stillwater, Oklahoma.
Buck was a faithful member of Gideons International, the First Southern Baptist Church of Guthrie, and a member of his church choir. He loved to sing and was a fan of traditional country and western music. He frequently entertained at the Oklahoma Opry, where he had the honor of being named Traditional Country and Western Artist of the Year on two separate occasions.
Buck was known for his commitment to art through his masterful works of pottery. He encouraged and shared that love with his students, most recently at The Guthrie Arts Center. He began making pottery over 50 years ago and continued to create, as well as teach, until 2024. In addition to singing and pottery, he was an avid gardener who relished spending days outdoors tending to his trees, plants, and flowers. His songs were loved and his pottery was renowned and collected by people from near and far. He was a cherished husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He will be remembered fondly for his voice, his creativity, and his kindness to others.
Buck is survived by his beloved wife Sharron Dollarhide and their four children, Shannon Scott, Krista McGee, Brady Dollarhide, and Piper Jornales, and two grandchildren, Dalton McGee and Nox Jornales.
A service in his memory will be held at 10:30am on Saturday, May 2, 2026 at First Southern Baptist Church of Guthrie. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in his memory be made to the Guthrie Arts Center, https://www.guthrieartscenter.com/, 316 S. Division St., Guthrie, OK or the First Southern Baptist Church of Guthrie, https://fsbcguthrie.org/giving/, 202 E. Noble Ave., Guthrie, OK.
