Martha was preceded in death by her longtime love of 55 years, husband Marvin Weiss; mother Helen Hirsh, father Harry Hirsh, and her son Michael Joel Weiss.
Martha Hirsh was born on April 6, 1929 in Chicago, IL to Harry and Helen Hirsh. She attended Marshall High School in Chicago. Martha married Marvin Weiss in 1948. When they were just getting started, she had her first job at Marshall Fields in downtown Chicago as a bookkeeper. The family moved from Chicago, IL to Oklahoma in 1968 when her husband was transferred with Unarco Industries. Here they set up a home and became an active and vital member of the Oklahoma City Jewish Community. As a pillar of Emanuel Synagogue she was a Past President of the synagogue, Sunday school teacher and past president of the Sisterhood. Martha loved her nights out to the Philharmonic concerts and Lyric Theatre with her friends. She always looked forward to her weekly mahjong games, many charitable meetings she attended, as well as never missing an OU home football game.
Martha was a special lady; loving, caring and always there to help. She loved everyone who she came in contact with and they loved her in return. She will be missed by all who knew her. We will hold her forever close to our hearts. We will miss her.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m., Tuesday, May 28, 2013 at Emanuel Synagogue, 900 N.W. 47th Street.
