Marva Jo was born on February 6, 1952, in Hendrix, Oklahoma, where she spent her early years surrounded by the love of family and the values that would shape her life. As a young girl, she moved with her family to Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, where she attended and graduated from Frederick Douglass High School. The friendships she formed and the lessons she learned there remained a cherished part of her life's journey. Marva Jo dedicated many years of faithful service to Lucent Technologies, where she built a respected career before retiring. She was known for her dedication, dependability, and unwavering work ethic, earning the admiration of both coworkers and friends. Above all, Marva Jo cherished her family. She was a devoted mother to her sons, Orlando and Charles, who were the center of her world. She also held a special place in her heart for her daughter-in-law, Tonya, Charles’ wife. In the early 1980s, she met the love of her life, Joe, and they soon married, sharing a life filled with love and lasting memories until his passing in 2014. Though she deeply missed him, she carried his love with her always. Marva Jo also found great joy in being a grandmother. She loved her grandchildren, Raven, Malik, Jayla, and Zanariah, and took pride in their accomplishments while surrounding them with unconditional love. She also lovingly remembered her grandson, Bryson, who preceded her in death. Her grandchildren were among her greatest blessings and remained close to her heart. Marva Jo enjoyed life’s simple pleasures and loved making memories with family. She found peace in fishing, especially at Lake Texoma, and enjoyed traveling to new places or taking trips with loved ones. She also expressed her love through cooking. Her homemade dressing, carrot cake, and pecan pie became cherished family favorites, especially during holidays. Through her meals, she brought family together and created lasting memories. Marva Jo leaves to cherish her memory her loving mother, Darlene; her brother, Carl (Cheryl); her sisters, Yvonne and Regina; her sons, Orlando and Charles (Tonya); her beloved grandchildren, and a host of cherished nieces, nephews, family members, and dear friends. Though our hearts grieve her absence, we find comfort in knowing that she has been reunited with her beloved husband, Joe, and her precious grandson, Bryson. Her life was a blessing, her memory a treasure. She was loved beyond words and will be missed beyond measure.
