Butch married Linda Kay Mize on April 13, 1968, in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Their wedding was held at the First Free Will Baptist Church, under the direction of Rev. John West. Butch and Linda celebrated their 57th wedding anniversary this year.
He served in the U.S. Air Force four years, and was honorably discharged as Staff Sergeant on December 15, 1969. He attended CSU and received his degree in business, after which he worked as an insurance underwriter for many years until his retirement in 2012. He and Linda lived in several cities before making their home in Edmond, Oklahoma these past 26 years.
Butch was an excellent athlete, especially in baseball. He played catcher from his grade school years all the way through college. He was so good that he tried out for the Pittsburgh Pirates and was told he was qualified for the team but unfortunately, he was too short. (This was the Pirates’ loss.)
He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, and was always willing to help someone in need. He was also known for saying something humorous at just the right time.
Butch was preceded in death by his parents, Marvin Thadus Robinson and Wilma Jean (Griffin) Robinson, and his sisters Shirley Turley and Emma Sue Taylor.
Butch is survived by his beloved wife Linda, his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews, and his best friend Jerry Williams. He will be missed by all.
A memorial service will be held June 10, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Hahn-Cook Street and Draper, followed by burial at Rose Hill Burial Park in Oklahoma City. The service will be officiated by Blayne Cook and graveside will be led by David Bellows.
While flowers are appreciated, memorial donations may also be made to the American Heart Association.
