Mary Margaret Batten, 64, passed away July 9, 2010 after a long battle with Muscular Dystrophy. She was born April 24, 1946 to Wendell and Margaret Foster in Oklahoma City. Mary lived life to its fullest, never letting her illness keep her from doing what she loved. She enjoyed traveling and went on several cruises to Mexico, the South Pacific and the Caribbean. Mary was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Gwen Woodcook and Carolyn Dunham and her daughter, Angela Peschl. She is survived by her loving husband of 12 years, William “Bill” Batten; daughter, Misty Johnson and her husband, Phillip; step daughters, Tammy Szczerbacki and her husband, Scott, and Debby Newell and her husband, Todd; sister, Pat Pinkerton; 13 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. She will be missed by those who loved her dearly. Visitation will be Sunday, July 11, 2010 at Chapel Hill Funeral Home from 3pm to 9pm. Services will be Monday, July 12, 2010 at 2pm in the Chapel Hill Funeral Home Chapel with interment following in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
