Mary C. Blanton, loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend died peacefully December 6, 2020 at her home. She was born October 6, 1929, in Oklahoma City, OK, the daughter of Peter John and Matina G. Caporal. Mary attended Lee and Edgemere Grade Schools, Harding Jr. High, Classen High School and graduated high school from Stephens College in 1947. In 1948 she began attending the University of Oklahoma where she met the love of her life (eventually) at a Kappa Alpha dance. D. J. “Bus” Blanton fell in love with beautiful Mary at first sight and told her he intended to marry her. He serenaded her night after night until she finally agreed to go out with him. They were married, July 29, 1950, and spent more than 37 loving years together raising a family and building a successful commercial real estate company (D.J. Blanton & Co). Following the sudden untimely death of her beloved husband in 1988, Mary went to clean out Bus’ desk at his office but instead decided to stay… and stay she did for the next 27+ years. She was a property owner and licensed real estate broker.
To Mary, family always came first! The family home was filled with love and laughter and Mary welcomed Tina and Tom’s friends and always made them feel they were like her own children.
Mary (aka Mimi) was always beautifully dressed, nails perfectly manicured, and her eyes made up to perfection. She was very independent, intelligent and an innovative lady. She was strong willed and never without an opinion on politics. She loved God, her family, OU football, OKC Thunder, coffee, and chocolate. She was a hard worker and such a nice giving person. Throughout her life, Mary contributed to many local civic, artistic, educational, medical, and religious organizations, both her time and money.
She is survived by daughter, Tina Webster (Glen) and son, Tom Blanton; sister, Helen Wolfe; grandchildren, Holly Wilson (Phillip), Jack Blanton, Bailey Blanton, and Jennifer Brand (Todd). Great-grandchildren; Jaxon, Everly, Julia, and Leo.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bus; sister, Beatrice Caporal; brother, John Caporal.
