She was born near Flippin, Arkansas, in 1931. Her parents, James L. and Una Ruth Mears, moved to Wetumka when she was twelve. She married Calvin L. Eastham after he returned to Okfuskee County after WWII. They had been married 50 years when he passed away in 1997. She took great pride in making a comfortable home and keeping her husband and children healthy and ready for work or school.
Mary enjoyed the gift of hospitality. She loved to cook and sew. Her faith provided daily joy, and the church offered her opportunities to teach and to raise funds through making fried pies and chicken dinners with the other ladies of the church. She received Jesus and the baptism in the Holy Ghost when she was a young teen. She prayed and sang throughout the day. Even while dying, she sang and praised her Lord.
She is survived by Calvin L. Eastham, Jr. (Barbara) of Oklahoma City; Debby Davis (Dennis) of Midwest City; Arnold Eastham of Harrah; Paula Perry of Midwest City; sister-in-law Jean Mears, Newcastle; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Calvin L. Eastham; daughter, Kathe Eastham of Midwest City; her parents, James L. and Ruth Mears of Wetumka. She was the last surviving sibling of Janna D. Treat-Gibson, James R. Mears, Margie L. Fulbright Boyd, Wilburn L. Mears, Archie C. Mears, and Ronald H. Mears.
