Mary Frances Fawcett was born on December 22, 1944, in Sparks, Oklahoma, to Wesley Vincen Pechacek and Frances J. Sykora Pechacek. Mary spent her early years on the family farm before marrying Wayne Fawcett on January 3, 1961. Together, they moved to Norman, Oklahoma, while Wayne attended school. Two years later, they relocated to Oklahoma City and then to Mustang in 1972. After leaving Mustang in 1985, Mary settled in Oklahoma City and later moved to Bethany, where she lived until her passing.
Mary built a career in the accounting department of the City of Oklahoma City, eventually becoming the Payroll Supervisor. She retired in 1995 after 30 years of distinguished service. Even in retirement, Mary continued to serve the city by joining the Retirement Board, contributing nine more years. Mary also worked as beauty consultant with Mary Kay, where she enjoyed sharing her love of beauty, helping others feel confident, and building strong relationships. Her dedication to the community and serving others extended to volunteering with hospice organizations, the Lions Club, and the Mobile Meals program at Ridgecrest United Methodist Church.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents; four sisters: Doris Washington, Laura Varner, Betty Seebeck, and Martha Pechacek; three brothers: Joe Pechacek, Charles Pechacek, and Wes Pechacek Jr.; and one grandson, Benjamin Jason Kopp.
She is survived by her sisters-in-law Brenda Pechacek and Mary Pechacek; her sons, Chuck and Jackie Fawcett of Oklahoma City, and Roger and Kathy Fawcett of Fort Cobb Lake; stepdaughters Stephanie and Pat O’Conner of Springfield, Missouri, and Michele Jenkins of Clackamas, Oregon. Mary’s legacy lives on in her grandchildren: Charle and Ryan McCaul, Wes and Amber Fawcett, Jennifer and Jon Priest, Justin and Jennifer Jennings, Kayla Kerbo, Kourtney and Dekota Green, Nathan and Amber King, Kris King, Danielle Jenkins, and Sam Jenkins; Casidy Harper, Logan and Lauren Harper, Zach and Taylor O’Conner, Riley and Chase White; as well as her beloved great-grandchildren: Collin, Parker, Jaxton, Piper, Penelope, Brayden, Corbin, Issiah, Lyssa, Jakob, Caleb, Zachary, Seth, Delilah, Luke, Ben, Aerith, Vincent, Karson, Lili, Bindi, and Chapel. She is also remembered fondly by many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Mary Frances Fawcett will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
A visitation for Mary will be held Monday, November 11, 2024 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Chapel Hill Funeral Home, 8701 Northwest Expressway, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
A funeral service will be Tuesday, November 12, 2024 at 11:00 AM at Chapel Hill Funeral Home.
