Mary Wood Foster, 90, of Oklahoma City, passed away, Sunday, May 6, 2012. She was born in Tulsa, OK on November 9, 1921 and lived there with her family until graduating from Tulsa High School. Mary received her undergraduate and Master’s Degree from the University of Oklahoma in social work. She was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma Sorority. Mary was married to her high school sweetheart, Vernon Foster, for 61 years until his death in December, 2003. They resided for 25 years in Oklahoma City raising their 2 daughters and later moved to Pensacola, Florida in 1972 where they resided for 22 years. Upon Vernon’s death, Mary moved back to Oklahoma City in 2004 to be closer to her daughters and resided at Epworth Villa. She is survived by her daughters, Susan Foster of Denver, CO and Lorna Matthiesen of Oklahoma City, a sister, Betty Wood Ortenburger of Tulsa, OK., two grandchildren and two great grandchildren, all of Oklahoma. Mary & Vernon spent summers in Belgrade, Maine where they had a family resort and gathering place. A Memorial Service will be 1:00 p.m., Friday, May 11, 2012 at Epworth Villa at 14901 N. Pennsylvania Avenue in Oklahoma City. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Oklahoma Regional Food Bank.
