Mary Kathryn Munson

Mary Kathryn Munson passed peacefully in Oklahoma City on February 13, 2018 at the age of 93. She was born in Okmulgee, OK on May 20, 1924. She was the youngest of two children born to Charles Q. and Nina Cherry. She graduated from Northeastern University with a Bachelors degree in Home Economics. Mary Kathryn married Myron C. Munson on September 2, 1947 after he returned from World War II. Mary Kathryn loved to be in the kitchen cooking and creating delicious meals and baked goods for family and friends. She was an active member of her PEO chapter DF and her children’s PTA. Mary Kathryn loved her church, Crown Heights United Methodist, where she taught 2nd grade Sunday School for many years as well as Vacation Bible School. A great joy for her was cooking for Mobile Meals on Mondays for over 20 years. Mary Kathryn is survived by her children, Mike Munson and wife Quynh, Raymond Munson and wife Mary Leslie, and Mary Nina Rozotto. Her nine grandchildren, Mary Kathryn Hamilton, Kelsey O'Bannon and husband Patrick, Mike Munson, Eric Munson and wife Allie, Mark Munson, Christopher Munson, Neal Munson, Linnea Corynne Hoffman and husband Shawn, and Jodie Munson. As well as three great grandchildren, Emily Hope Alvarez-Hamilton, Grace Jones, and Grant Hoffman. Mary Kathryn always had a special place in her heart for her nephews Skipper and Skeeder Brooks. She is preceeded in death by her husband Myron C Munson, her parents Charles Q Cherry and Nina Detrick, and brother Charles Q Cherry. The family would like to thank April Dinger for the joy, love, and compassion she showed their mom. Viewing will be Sunday, February 18 from 2-4 at Hahn-Cook/Street & Draper Funeral Home. A celebration of her life will be at Crown Heights United Methodist Church, 1021 NW 37, Oklahoma City, OK 73118 on Monday February 19, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make donations to Crown Heights United Methodist Church.
