Mary Louise, known fondly as Louise, was born to Elmer and Edna Bohanan and was raised in a loving and supportive family. She was the wife of the late Paul Tyler and a devoted mother to her three sons, Joe Tyler and wife Kathie, Bobby Tyler (deceased), and Terry Tyler. Louise’s heart was filled with pride for her three grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and eight great-great-grandchildren.
Louise had a deep and lasting bond with her late sister, Walteena (Teen), and they remained close throughout their lives. The two women married brothers, Paul and Ralph Tyler, which created a special connection between their families as they raised their children side by side. Louise also maintained a close relationship with Teen’s daughters, her dear nieces Pat Lamar and Marilyn Wisdom. Throughout her life, she was a devoted and loving daughter to her parents, who lived to 90 and 97, respectively.
Louise’s incredible longevity was a testament to her strong spirit and great genes. Despite breaking her hip at the age of 90, she continued to live independently for another six years. Her work ethic was unparalleled; she worked diligently at a tag agency until the age of 84, finishing her career at Mac’s Tag.
A long-time member of Penn Avenue Baptist Church, Louise found strength and fellowship in her faith and the church community. She enjoyed the company of her close friend, Della Davidson, and in her later years, spent time with friends at the Mansions Southwest Senior Independent Living, where she loved playing bingo, often with Della’s daughter Rae Deen calling the numbers.
The most notable thing in Louise’s life was her devotion to her family. She took tremendous joy in watching her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren thrive and achieve their dreams. At the age of 81, she traveled to Jamaica to witness her granddaughter’s wedding, a testament to her boundless love and spirit of adventure.
A celebration of Louise’s life will be held on March 20, 2025 at 10AM at Advantage Funeral Home in south Oklahoma City, where family and friends will gather to honor her remarkable 101 years. She will be laid to rest in Snyder, OK.
