Mary graduated from Excelsior Springs High School in Excelsior Springs, Missouri, and went on to further her educational pursuits by going on to the Kansas School of Business to achieve an associate’s degree in business. Mary worked in flight control in Kansas before moving to Yuma, Arizona where she worked for the Bureau of the Interior as a filing clerk until her retirement.
In 1976, while in Yuma, Arizona, Mary met, Gregory Wick. They would be married on February 26, 1983, spending many happy years of their lives together.
After Mary and Greg both retired they went on a mission trip to the Philippines. After this trip, they did more traveling to places like Alaska and Oklahoma. They decided to make Oklahoma City their home. They both volunteered at Heartland Bible College for 22 years and were also members of Southwest Baptist Church. Mary was a dedicated Baptist, giving her time and energy to her faith. She was very involved in the Adopted Daughter Program and quite busy at the bookstore at the college.
She is preceded in death by her parents as well as her son, Merrell Wayne Bones.
Mary is survived by her husband Gregory Wick; her step-children, Dorothy Courtwright and husband Mike of Bremerton, WA, Gregory Phillip Wick and wife Kim of Nampa, ID, Steven James Wick and wife Mary of Yukon, OK, Michael Anthony Wick of Waynesville, MO, Elizabeth Jean Zuniga and husband Ben of San Diego, CA and John Manuel and wife Leanne of National City, CA; sixteen grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren as well as her puppies Seysa and Cuddles.
Visitation will be at Chapel Hill Funeral Home from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday, May 17. A service to celebrate Mary’s life will be at Southwest Baptist Church, 1300 S.W. 54th Street, Oklahoma City, OK 73119 at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 18, 2024.
Memorials may be made in Mary’s name to Heartland Bible College.
