Marylin Jones

She was born in Oklahoma City to Fred and Mary Eddy Jones. She attended Wilson Elementary, Harding Middle School, Classen High School, Bryn Mawr and the University of Oklahoma. She graduated from Mills College in Oakland, California

Marylin truly knew the joy and responsibility of serving and giving to others, and did so with grace, a deep sense of commitment and charm. She was a member of the Junior League of Oklahoma City and the Beaux Arts Society. She was a longtime member of the board of Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation, the Winter Ball Committee, Allied Arts, the Myriad Botanical Gardens, and the Oklahoma Zoological Society.

She is a past chairperson of the Oklahoma Arts Council. She has served on the boards of the First National Bank, Oklahoma City Chamber of Commerce, Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation and the University of Oklahoma Foundation. She is a recipient of the Oklahoma City Public School Foundation Humanitarian Award as well as the Marilyn Douglass Memorial Award for her efforts with the State Arts Council, Allied Arts Foundation and Mid-American Arts Alliance.

Marylin was a lifelong member of All Souls Episcopal Church. She was a founding member and chairman of the Fred Jones Jr. Museum of Art at the University of Oklahoma, which is named after her late brother. She also served as chairman of the Fred Jones Family Foundation, which benefits area civic, cultural and educational organizations.

Marylin truly loved her family, the arts, playing golf and tennis, and working crossword puzzles. She loved traveling, had an adventuresome spirit and was fascinated with exploring ancient ruins, spending a year early in life in Peru doing so. But as much as she enjoyed her vast travels, she was always an Oklahoman at heart.

Survivors include her sons, Fred J. Hall and his wife Karen; Boots Hall and his wife Carole and Kirkland Hall and his wife Julie, and seven grandchildren, Maguire & her husband Tyler Thomas, Jones, Allison, Bryan, Kendall, Brooks J. & his wife Angela, Bobby & Cindy, and great-grandchildren Cale and Dillon Hall.

She is also survived by Susie (Jarman) Martin and her husband Jim of Denver, Colorado along with their children Jake Martin and Elizabeth Purdy.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Mary Eddy Jones, her brother, Fred Jones, Jr., and an infant daughter, Allison.

Funeral services will be 2:00 on Monday, July 21st, at All Souls Episcopal Church under the direction of Hahn-Cook/Street & Draper. A reception will follow at the church. The family will then proceed to a private interment.

In lieu of flowers, those wishing to honor Marylin’s memory may make memorial contributions to All Souls Episcopal Church, Fred Jones Jr. Museum of Art at the University of Oklahoma, Oklahoma City Public Schools Foundation, or Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation.
