May Frances "Fran" Samara, 82, has been called home to be with the Lord on Saturday, February 21st, 2015. Her devotion to her family and her firm belief in Jesus Christ supported her in her struggle and ultimately gave her peace.
Fran was born in Grandfield, Oklahoma in 1933. She grew up in Fort Cobb, Oklahoma and played girls high school basketball. She attended Oklahoma State University for one year and then moved to Oklahoma City and went to work for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company. She then went to work for Scott Chevrolet on Broadway, right across the street from the Frigidaire office. That’s where she met John Ray Samara and was married in 1957. Fran was the consummate homemaker, wife, and mother. She reared her children in a loving, Christian home and taught them the importance of loving the Lord.
Fran loved serving the Lord through Bible Study Fellowship, teaching children’s Sunday School, and being a stay-at-home wife and mom. She was kind and soft-spoken, and always had time to help a friend, or make a new friend. She loved children and worked hard to help children in any way possible. She loved her grandchildren with all of her heart and was known as “Sitty” to most everyone. Fran loved her country and loved her home state Oklahoma. She was truly “Sooner Born and Sooner Bred”! She is dearly missed by her loved ones, who celebrate the fact that she is at home with the Lord.
Fran is survived by her son Johnny Samara, daughter Debbie Homsey and son-in-law Harvey Homsey; her niece Mena Samara; her grandchildren Josh Samara, Caleb Samara, Taylor Homsey, Natalie Homsey, Melissa Homsey, and Zach Homsey; her sisters Ann Hardesty and Sheron Hardesty; sister-in-law Mary Sills and brother-in-law Mike Samara; nephews, nieces, great-nephews, and great-nieces. She is preceded in death by her husband John Ray Samara, her brother John Huffington, and her parents Blanch Hardesty, Harold Hardesty, and Orbie Huffington.
Services will be held at Quail Springs Baptist Church at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, February 24th, 2015. Viewing will be Monday, February 23rd, 2015 from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Hahn-Cook/Street& Draper Funeral Home, 6600 Broadway Extension, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
The family gratefully requests in lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Oklahoma Baptist Homes for Children at 3800 North May Avenue, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, 73112.
