

Megan Elizabeth Simons, 23, passed peacefully surrounded by family and friends after a courageous battle against brain cancer over the past two years. Megan was a graduate of Classen School of Advanced Studies in 2009. While she was a team member of the varsity volleyball team and a member of Honors Society, she was also a passionate performer in vocal and theatrical arts having performed as part of the choir and in featured roles and songs in numerous productions at school and throughout local theatre including Poteet Theatre and Lyric Academy. She was a member of the All-State Women’s Chorus and also performed at the famous Carnegie Hall in New York City. She went on to start her college career in Musical Theatre Performance after being accepted to the program at the University of Central Oklahoma. After her sophomore year, Megan was chosen to participate in Walt Disney World’s College Program as an intern. After successful completion of the program she returned to UCO to study brand communications. Upon her return she was accepted into Alpha Gamma Delta sorority and made the UCO Dean’s List for academic achievement. She was a life-long member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church where she was an active member of youth group and an altar server. Megan is survived by her loving parents Bob and Julie Simons; her caring brother, Blake Simons; grandmother Dolores Simons; grandparents David and Marilyn Rayburn; and many devoted aunts, uncles, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her grandfather Eugene Simons. Vigil Services will be September 16, at 6:00 pm with visitation taking place between Noon and 8pm at the Hahn-Cook Funeral Home at 6600 Broadway Extension in Oklahoma City. The Catholic Funeral Mass will be September 17, at 10am at St. Francis of Assisi Church located at 1901 NW 18th St in Oklahoma City.
